Sacred Hill
Sacred Hill(聖山) is a disappeared hill in Kowloon, Hong Kong. It is where a historical boulder Sung Wong Toi previously lied on. Sacred Hill is also known as Hill of the King of Sung in some old maps.〔1920 map. Lands Department, 1920.〕 The name "Sacred Hill" is widely believed to be a name given by foreigners as no according Chinese name was known in advance. It is believed that Emperor Duanzong of the Southern Song Dynasty had settled on the hill for a period of time when he was escaping from the Mongolians. The hill was flattened during the Japanese Occupation of Hong Kong when the Japanese dedicated to expand the nearby Kai Tak Airport at the expense of the sacred hill.〔''In search of the past: a guide to the antiquities of Hong Kong 香港文物志'', The Urban Council of Hong Kong, 1988.〕 ==References==
